Prologue I

HIGH SCHOOL
(Kiss Me More by Doja Cat, SZA)

"I am so not going to any goddamn party." I protested against my three best friends who were crowding me currently, looking determined as fuck. I didn't do parties and I totally hated crowds. But ugh! I knew they wouldn't let me stay in tonight. Claire had a fierce look, and Saaya smirked while Sia looked amused. I winced, "Guys, come on! It's not that I don't want to go, it's just that I can't. I - I'm feeling sick." I faked my cough but of course, it was stupid. I've never been a good liar, good at almost everything, but not lying. Always that good girl.

"Edaline Walter! If you don't move your ass right this moment, I will kill you and then take your dead body to the party." The way Claire said, she might actually kill me. Everyone knew how big she was on party and fashion, and yet somehow she scored well. God knew I couldn't if my focus diverted like that. I pursed my lips, wanting to say more but then thinking better of it.

"Oooookay fine! But I'm not drinking." Great work Eda! You put up such a fight for a party you absolutely did not want to go to. Cyrus was the one always throwing parties around the entire year. Cyrus who also happened to be Aiden's best friend which meant Aiden would be there. I did not want to see him at all. Besides being my academic rival, which was fine by me, he was hell-bent on making my life hell. Having a rival always pushed me to do better and more but he...God! He was infuriating.

"Here, wear this Eddy. It's about time you show off those sexy curves." I was so lost in thought that I didn't even realize Claire going through my wardrobe. She picked out a plain light blue dress with a square neckline, a thick waistline that was just a few centimeters below the breasts area, and a flowy length that ended too short.

"Hell no!" Show off my curviness? Fuck no! This was one thing and the only that I was insecure about. And I didn't like it. There were so many things I didn't like. Yet I was named the perfect one.
The bed dipped as Saaya sat beside me and putting her hand on my things she said, "Babygirl, you're so sexy, I might be gay for you. And that's nothing to be insecure about." Oh, my Gods! Just Saaya and her endless flirting with the three of us. But the way her eyes molded, especially with the deep kohl she always applied; it was naturally seductive. And she was looking at me like that. I blushed and cleared my throat. Nope. I was straight! So was she. And no, I will never get used to her. Sia broke the tension, "Come on, Eda. We'll be there." She barely spoke due to her raspy voice but she had a sharp tongue when it was not us. Though she never tells us the reason for her voice, I have always found it beautiful.

"Nah-uh. Nope. Not happening. Nada. Absolutely not. Not in this lifetime." I said and groaned at their expressions.

The party was in full swing when we arrived. And yes, I was wearing that blue dress. It wasn't easy to win against them, the three of them together. It took us an hour to do my hair and makeup. I pulled the hem of my dress down. It was short enough that if I bend over, my white panties would be on full display and it showed a good amount of my cleavage.
I felt a hand on my waist. I already knew who it was before I heard, "You look beautiful, my little blue. Don't worry, I'll be here all night beside you. Okay?" That was Saaya, she was a total girl's girl for us and someone who cared too much. I looked behind me at her. She looked sexy in her black satin dress and I didn't want to keep her stuck. "I know babe, you're always here."
I released a breath. My nerves were jittery and I resisted the urge to fidget. We reached the kitchenette bar. They were having drinks; I snatched the glass from Sia's hands and gulped it in one go. I needed liquid courage if I was going to last for even an hour. I wasn't made for parties.

"Damn!"
"Woah, what happened to no drinking, huh?"
"You go, girl!"
I heard the three of them before a new voice added, "Oh my God! Who is she? Where is my Eddy? What did you three evils do to her?" The alcohol burned its way down my throat. "Oh hey, Ahaan!" Saaya and Ahaan hugged. My body was heating, I had never drank before meaning I had a really low capacity. Fuck! "Ahaan, these three evil witches did some magic and brought me here. And you know what? I'm gonna go dance." Wait- since when do I dance? "Let's go after her. Let's dance!" Someone spoke, Saaya most probably. I didn't even know how to dance but I was suddenly brimming with energy. Is that what drink does to people? I wasn't even drunk.

Saaya showed up beside me along with the three as I moved my limbs. She suddenly started to laugh, "Girl, you look like a dying fish." Ehh...that bad, huh? She took my hand in hers and spun me around. She held my hips making me sway and guiding my every step. I could see the others vibing as well. We continued for hours. I twirled around and my eyes met green ones. Aiden. He was leaning against the wall conversing with his friends but his eyes were locked on me. How long had he been there? Had he been watching me this whole time? "I'm going to get some fresh air. You don't need to come." I screamed over the loud music and left without waiting for her reply.

"Well, isn't this a surprise, blueberry?"
